Burns

The last couple of days have been very busy here. Matt burned his hand on Wednesday afternoon so we spent a few hours in the ER to get him checked out. I haven't actually taken a picture of his hand, but let's just say that Halloween is a month early. His fingernails are orange. While in the ER, Amy called to tell me that Benjamin had a temperature. So I took him to the pediatrician yesterday morning and he has an infection in his eye from having allergies with a runny nose. Not pinkeye, but we get to use eye drops and oral antibiotics, too (his first dose of antibiotics). Matt is feeling some better and Ben is talking. His newest words are "oh, boy", "ball", "ohohohoh" (all the way home from this little piggy),and his shoes actually do have a ball on them.

Bath time

Mommy has to be careful to crop pictures correctly...

Ben loves bath time and playing with...balls

Fall Weekend Getaway

Matt surprised me Thursday night with the idea of a weekend getaway. After hours of internet searching and phone calls, we are now in North Carolina (without Ben). Mom and Dad are watching him until tomorrow when we come home, but I am getting more homesick by the minute. Matt says the roads home are best left to daytime hours, so we will be here until tomorrow. It has been very relaxing and very reminiscent of our trip to Colorado with small town life. The lodge where we are staying is very nice...next time we will bring Ben (and sweaters)!

I actually wanted to climb up on Blowing Rock and take some pictures but there was a bride and groom getting pictures taken on it...very appropriate for the story, here is a link if you are unfamiliar. www.blowingrock.org/therock.html

Number 8

Our anniversary was Tuesday. Eight years. Of course, most pictures are on film and not digital, so here are a few from the last couple years. I took off the weekend to spend with the family..Matt is fishing. Oh well, I needed the time off :) In all fairness, I went out to eat with friends on Tuesday night after work, so I guess it is fair that Matt is fishing....

Playdate and walking

Ben and Allie had a playdate Saturday night while Matt and Mark were fishing. Jenn and I are amazed by the differences between boys and girls. Allie was showing Ben her broom and he put it on his shoulder like a ball bat. Aren't we funny? Where did Allie go? There she is. Jenn and I were trying to get them to sit still while we took a picture. This is the closest we came. Emma the cat isn't afraid of children...she probably should be... Posing for Mommy

Mullet, no more!!

We finally had Ben's hair cut yesterday afternoon. Matt's Aunt Janice cut his hair and he looks so handsome! And old! As many of you know, I was having a difficult time with the proposition of a first haircut. Neither one of us cried! So now, in tribute to the mullet, I give you these pictures...

Oh, and for those that don't know, Ben fell on Tuesday and has a nice bruise and now scabbing right between his eyes. He is in the "DHS phase" as Jenn calls it...
Bye, bye mullet boy!
And usually he likes his hair spiked on top!
Maybe he will be a barber when he gets older

All Done!!
Benjamin cried when Janice and Matt went to wash Matt's hair. "DADADADA" so Ben got to sit on Matt's lap while she washed his hair.

Labor Day

Matt and I were off from work yesterday so we got to spend some time with Benjamin. After Ben took a 3 hour nap, we ran some errands and shopped a while. On our way home, we decided to eat at the Gondolier. The waitress gave Ben a balloon which he chewed a hole in on the way home.

Ben and his balloon

Hey, this thing is getting smaller...
Ben was a really good sport while we were shopping and riding so we stopped at the park to let him play. He likes to slide but he prefers to climb UP the slide. Thankfully I had put my camera in the bag to catch a few pics!

Whew, he made it to the top!

Not so much a fan of the swing last night

Uh-oh!

We only have cabinet locks under the sink so I found that a wooden "whipping" spoon will hold the cabinets shut...
Since we keep a gate at the bottom of the stairs, Ben has decided to climb upstairs OUTSIDE the spindles. I am hiding watching him because he will look around before he does it to make sure he isn't watched.
Climbing out from under the high chair...over and over...
I was trying to get Ben to blow kisses for Amy's birthday. You can hear him making the "mmm" noise, but he is too busy to stop for actual kisses...

Happy Labor Day!!
